Who we are

Slow Food Southwest Florida is one of more than 130 chapters of Slow Food USA, each called a "convivium," that carry out the movement’s mission on a local level. We advocate sustainability and biodiversity through educational events and promote the consumption and celebration of seasonal and local foods and the support of those who produce them. We also simply enjoy wonderful food, something we do a lot of at our events.

Slow Food USA believes that pleasure and quality in everyday life can be achieved by slowing down, respecting the convivial traditions of the table, and celebrating the diversity of the earth's bounty. The members of Slow Food Southwest Florida are a diverse group of food enthusiasts with a curiosity about food traditions and heritage, local artisanal products, sustainable agriculture and the protection of the biodiversity of our local and global food sources. Our members include home cooks and professional chefs, farmers, restaurateurs, food and wine writers, and lots of others who like to eat and know where their food comes from.
